Multicultural Heritage Club

Chair:
Mrs. Lewis

Description of Club:
"America's Heritage: Many Parts, One Family," is an annual multicultural heritage festival at Kawameeh. This event is a celebration of the rich diversity of cultures represented among Kawameeh's students and staff that gives students an opportunity to share information about their own ethnic backgrounds with each other, with parents and with community members. Students prepare for the festival in their classes and clubs throughout the year. Multicultural music, dancing, and cooking performances and demonstrations are scheduled on the evening of the festival in Kawameeh's auditorium. The gym and hallways are filled with displays of student projects in all subject areas. Past displays have included posters, slide presentations, models, handmade dolls and puppets, masks, charts and graphs, poetry, games, brochures, and a variety of art forms and crafts. Activities for young children may include storytelling, face or henna painting, or simple craft demonstrations done by Kawameeh students. As they view the exhibits, people who attend can sample foods from different countries donated by Kawameeh families.
